  7/12/2010 - Idaho potato acreage lowest since 1980
Potato growers in Idaho have planted an estimated 295,000 acres in 2010, an 8 percent decrease from the 320,000 acres planted in 2009. Harvested acres, at 294,000, are also down 8 percent from a year ago. These are the least potato acres planted in Idaho since 1980, when 295,000 acres were also planted. Idaho has not had a lower planted acreage since 1965, when 283,000 acres were planted.
