Yvan Pelletier, an entomologist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, is conducting research at Fredericton's Potato Research Centre with the goal of creating a natural pesticide out of potato leaves. He said some wild potato species in South and Central America are much more resistant to insects than North American varieties, and he's studying the foliage of these plants to find out why.
